We're Back in the Swing

Alot has been happening at Fifty-Six Union. The Jannelle Family has moved into the Love Shack for the summer, we celebrated Diana Wallingford's B-Day at the Ships Inn (delicious), our good friend Alex had us over for champagne and snacks (catered by Mark Yelle....Nantucket Catering Co....fabulous!), and the Bauer Family is having a neighborhood gathering tomorrow titled "tiniweenies". What can be better???
Veronica is very pleased about the Red Sox Success...she can hardly wait to frolick in her team jersey.
Menu news... we have three new wines by the glass...first, a dry rose from France...a perfect summer refresher...second, a featured selection from Bordeaux, a must for the sophisticated palate, and third (in my book the most important), Taittinger is on by the glass...truly the perfect bubble to ease the pain and appreciation for the summer months.
Peter has added many new summer dining items...Rack of Lamb, Veal Chop (two day countdown), Clam Chowder with roasted corn, Clams Casino, and Day Boat Fluke. Summer Time and the Livin' is easy!!!!! See you til' next time...

The Flowers are in Bloom

The weather has been gorgeous, except for a little to much wind. The roses and numerous other flowers have blossomed in the surrounding gardens on the property. We hope to have some pictures for you soon.
We have been adding more items to the menu for the Summer season. The 1/2 Rack of Colorado Lamb is Back, along with the new England Clam & Corn Chowder.

Sunday Brunch

We want to let everyone know that we are now serving Ray Owen's eggs at Sunday Brunch. If you order poached eggs, then they will be from his local farm. They have the most amazing flavor...and are plump and juicy! A friend of mine (Caroline) and I went to visit Ray at his farm yesterday. Of course we greeted him with treats from our kitchen (he loves sweets). He proceded to show us all of his animals. Caroline even got to hold a chicken (although I don't recommend it). Besides having enough chickens which produce about 150 eggs a day, he has stunning gardens. I hope to acquire many sunflowers for the restaurant this summer. Thanks Ray for a great outing....

Film Festival Weekend

Well today is Friday and we haven't seen any rock/movie stars yet. Are they even on the Island? Oh well, all of our customers are Rock Stars, especially Bruce Wallingford. Now there's a handsome guy who loves to have fun. If you ever take him to any auction, you'll be sure to end up with some kind of a prize...a bike perhaps, some decoys, or maybe even a Limo Ride if your really lucky. So here's lookin at you Brucie...our very own Rock Star of the day!

New patio awning

Last night the HDC approved our application for our new patio awning. Patrick Glidden from Awning Systems in Hyannis will be erecting the monster. Let's hope it gets here in time for alfresco dining...come rain or shine!
